We had torn down my 77 spider for a restoration. Only to find that the front frame hand almost fist-size rot holes in it where the suspension connects. Being a tenacious to a fault I told my son and son-law, we can rebuild it stronger than stock. We just need to make some templates, cut some steel and start welding. They said I was nuts - but then they often - OK OK I'll cut it short, Turned out hey right -this one time- the shock towers were a goner, as were most of the mounting points for the rear axle! Anyway we chopped up for scrap after pulling the good stuff out. It was real bummer and not simply because it fun ride, but engine and clutch have less than 4,000 miles on them. Now I have to decided if want to put that engine in something else or sell? Oh yeah, after mostly siting the last few years ut ran great straightaway. go fig/ That engine has lots mods, forged pistons, headers, an Electromotive crank-triggered coil pac ingnition system + other nods. Damn, I hate rust!------------------ http://i16.photobucket.com/...ancis44/100_1147.jpg trueleo.com
