Well, my fiance's escape is leaking oil. I can smell it when I drive it for a mile or so after I stop, so I figured, valvecover gasket, no big deal. Well tonight she came home and the waterpump sounded like it was starting to lose its bearings. I ended up taking the stretch belt off, putting it back on, the sound disappeared, good enough for me. Anyways, I found the leak. Its the cam seal where the intake cam comes through and runs the waterpump. My question now is, does anybody have any idea on how to change it? More specifically, what tool do I use to pull the pulley off that cam? I searched and couldn't find much of anything, and I have a sneaking suspicion it is something that only the dealer has the tool. Any help would be appreciated. I'd hate to send it to the dealer almost as much as I hate Fords. ------------------ Current Vehicles; 1984 Fiero SE (Saved from Crusher, 47k original miles) 1985 Fiero GT "Red GT" (3.4 rebuilt from a 95 Camaro) 1988 Fiero "Black Fiero" (Mid 3800sc swap/ restoration) 1988 Fiero GT "The GT" (Original silver, currently winterized) 1989 Olds Cutlass Cierra "Grandpa"

A 'power steering' Pully puller sounds like what your after. Check harbor freight, I got one for 9.99 up here at princess auto, a Canadian equivellent. Was the sound from the belt not just a belt squeal? If so then try using some belt lube, or buying a new, higher end belt.

there are several special tools to press it on and off. It is very easy to damage the pulley. It also needs to be pressed on a specific depth, I want to say 4.75 mm or something close to it. I haven't done one myself, but do remember a co-worker cussing up a storm without the special tools. He ended up going to a dealer and begged to borrow them. I think there were tears involved.
