Just got a 2006 Scion xb with 140k, 5 speed, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Before I go find another forum i figured i would ask here. Want to do a tune up and want to know what to get, spark plugs, oil/filter, coolant, ect. and if there is any other things I should look at, with it having 140k miles on it.
Thanks,

17500 miles/year. That's a lot. Was it all highway miles? I don't know anything about those (had to Google it just to see what it looked like) but I'd suggest an oil/filter change and flush the coolant. I'd ask a dealer what the last major service entailed and, if there's no proof it's been done (paper or it doesn't count), do it. Check the brakes/tires, too.

I bought it off craigslist and it checked out good, but of course don't trust the word of a stranger lol. That's why I want to do a tune up. I need to really look it over good but it does seem to be good as I drove it home on the freeway for 40-50 mins at 75-80 mph and everything seemed good. Does have new tires on it with some nice 17" wheels and the only problem I can see is the power steering pulley is, best I can describe is, that its wobbly at idle but give it gas and it straightens out. Maybe need too tighten the belt or replace it or new pulley?

I'd guess you'd need to replace either the pulley or the entire p/s pump if the pulley is a part of the whole unit. Try RockAuto.

I'd hope that clutch has been replaced at least once...

I know 2 sisters that have them. Both were in accidents. They dont fare very well, and like most asian cars are pretty much put together with aluminum screws (not bolts) that always break on disassembly. Both of theirs eat tires like M&Ms. They are kind of handy to carry stuff, much like any minivan. I think the interiors are super cheap looking ... like 50s VWs, but easy to modify to anything youd like. They never said anything about repairs or maintenance so cant help there.

Beside the normal stuff. Filters, plugs, change coolant, change gear oil(trans). Start listening for timing component noises. The Toyota engines do last long, but any of them can start to self destruct if timing components get loose(chain, guides, tensioner). Wouldn't hurt to have the valve cover pulled off by someone who knows what they are looking for to inspect. Plus they tend to leak oil into the spark plug/coil pack "tubes" when the valve cover leaks More with time than miles would be coil packs.

140k highway and a mature, experienced driver wouldn't scare me. 140k city and racer wannabe? Swap now!

Aftermarket wheels would be a bad sign to me that it was a ricer wannabe street racer who owned it. I prefer my used cars from elderly couples if I can pick.
