For 1975 only, Monzas sold in California and high altitude areas met the stricter emissions requirement by substituting a version of the 5.7 liter (350 cid) V8 engine with a 2-barrel carburetor tuned to just 125 hp (93 kW).

Back in the late 70's a friend of mine had one. Took out the 262 and put in a 350. I think we spent most of the summer under that car replacing the rest of the drivetrain.

I was ready to buy one in 79 but the local Chevy dealer wouldn't even take a dollar off of the sticker. I ended up buying the new 79 Mustang Turbo 4 cylinder that handled better, was faster and got better mileage.
