Picked up super clean 2001 Z-24 (2.4) with a rod knock for $400. Got the crank kit, gaskets, oil & water pumps, etc... Just pulled the crank last night. #3 rod bearing was non-existent, gone... Wasn't looking to do a complete rebuild.
Wondering if anyone knows what years from what cars will work?
This is what I've found, therefore trying to stay with 2000 or 2001.
This engine received a minor update halfway through the 1999 model year that eliminated the EGR, increased the compression ratio from 9.5:1 to 9.7:1, and switched from low impedance fuel injectors to high impedance.

Found a clean 2000 Grand Am at a pick-n-pull. All engines $255.
Just trying to verify if the above info is correct that I pulled from the web.
We're good with the 2000-2001 Cavalier or Grand Am. Got the listing from the yard. Gonna be a fun Saturday. No air (tools), 80% chance of rain and 90 degrees. (Welcome to the rain forest!!!!)
