07 Mustang V6 plug wires (Page 1/1)

I have an 07 V6 Mustang with about 110,000 miles. I am wondering if I should replace the original plug wires? It has a minor rough idle that it didn't used to have. Any thoughts? Thanks

Don't buy cheap replacement wires or you'll wish you kept the old ones. I bought cheap replacements and within 15,000 miles I was doing a lot of trouble shooting. Finally, on a dark night, I misted the plug wires and started it up. the new wires had so many leaks that it looked like the 4th of July in there. You might want to mist the your old wires and check for electrical shorts.

What Carnut said... and 100k/7 years is a good run for original wires. I'd probably replace them. IMHO/IME, stick with Motorcraft parts. They aren't terribly expensive (and rockauto carries them!) and will work as well as the originals did.

Ok thanks, so you don't think I should chance buying Taylor spiro 8.2 mm wires?

Thanks for the misting tip carnut, I hadn't thought of that. I also see that the motorcraft wires from rock are cheaper than the taylor wires. Great forum members as always.
