LS4 swap - Delorean (Page 1/1)
jschatte OCT 01, 02:31 PM
Hey guys,
I just bought an LS4 to pop in my 82 Delorean. After doing some research the guys with the know how on this engine are on this forum, not LS1tech!
I like this motor as I can source it with low kms and the compact accessories. Bellhousing pattern is not a issue as I am making an adapter plate anyway.

I am going to modify the engine as little as possible for the time being, so all the DoD parts will stay. I wil be running megasquirt though, so DoD will be inactive. I have read this shouldnt be a problem, but feel free to correct me if im wrong!
The thing I am concerned about is I have to change the oil pan for clearance to a GTO front sump pan. I hear the DoD pans have different provisions in them and a higher flow oil pump. Is this a concern when switching pans even though DoD is inactive? Do I need to change my oil pump to something that flows less?

Very cool

I found an old thread that began about a similar idea.

Welcome! We like DeLoreans, too.

Seems like not enough folks come in to the other cars section (its kind of new). You may want to try just the LS4 questions in tech, or the whole idea in OT.

There are quite a few DMC fans around. Please post up some progress once in awhile.

Word!

To date my favorite DMC swap was a 20B, but an LS4 sounds awesome!

Can someone explain to me why the higher oil pressure is bad? I deleted the dod and still have the stock pump.
