Anyone willing to peel off $56k for one of these? Where do they come up with these prices?

"Kilgore Trout once wrote a short story which was a dialogue between two pieces of yeast. They were discussing the possible purposes of life as they ate sugar and suffocated in their own excrement. Because of their limited intelligence, they never came close to guessing that they were making champagne." - Kurt Vonnegut

I couldn't agree more. My daughter wants a Range Rover, but I've been trying to talk her out of it. She's hard-headed like me, so she may end up learning from that mistake.

If she wants a Range Rover, just let her buy it with her own money.

Trust me; I won't be putting any of my $ into it.

If they don't make their own mistakes they will never learn from them. My Niece wanted to buy a Jeep a few years back because she liked the way it looked like a cat.

She has learned to regret that purchase.

Growing up we had a family friend (called her aunt) who was a very wealthy woman, she owned a com Tower company that was worth a good bit, every year she would but the president of her company a brand new range rover as a company vehicle, and each year she would take the one he drove (usually with less than 10K miles on it) and use it as a mail getter to run to the end of her really long driveway, (maybe max 2K miles) Than when the car would get to be 2 years old she would give it to my mom (with about max 12K miles) They were all expensive hunks of crap, any time something would go wrong with the car it was expensive to fix, For instance an Evap bottle for condensation.... ours crackes, the par itself was $500 for a bottle I could have made out of a used coke bottle, than another $600 to put it in.... these things suck...

Its not even so much the up front cost on alot of these vehicles, its maintinence costs.

The prices of high end vehicles and the maintenance involved are way out of reach for myself ( I guess thats why I have a Fiero) But I did buy a new Ford Escape with the 4cyl turbo and 4wd for just under 24k. Don't know if it will last longer than the Land Rover but I'm guessing the money I saved will keep my Fiero parts flowing.
