1998 Firebird, 3.8 S/c swap? (Page 1/1)

I am looking at a nice n/a 3800 firebird with a 5spd manual.
no dents/dings, accidents or anything. super clean.

I have a s/c 3800 with 60k pulled from a grandma car sitting here.

I have always wanted a trans am, but that 6k average price tag is "too high" for me, someone who likes to pay in full with cash upfront.

I can snag this firebird for a good price, and swap the motors and wiring harnesses out and then put it back together.
I was thinking this would be a neat project to do.

and knowing myself if I go along with it, I'll tare the motor apart, and cam/pulley it for a little more pep.
I'm on the fence guys, I LOVE Fieros, but the lust for something newer looking like a 98-02 Firebird could make me cheat on them.

dont forget 3800 sc intake is facing the rear of the motor. so its backwards in a camaro.

I'm pretty certain you'll have an awful lot sticking up thru the hood.

I may be wrong but I don't believe it will work without a LOT of modification. Most of the motor on V6 F-bodies sits under the cowl so it's not like you could just cut a hole in the hood and make it work. Look up turbo's for said car, a lot easier to get the same amount of power and has been done many times.

Here's where everybody talked me out of one: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/107265.html

you may end up with the Throttle Body sticking out of the Dash ! do ALOT of "Measuring" before you attempt this !

wont work... I was thinking about it with my old firebird... your intake snout will be up under the dashboard not enough room to clear it either... that and its not going to do much for you... Very heavy car and way underpowered with the V6..

also trust me on this... I loved my firebird to... bought my fiero to keep miles off my firebird... wound up selling my firebird... they are sharp looking cars but with the V6 when the only thing you can beat is stock civics and wranglers it does get kind of old.
