Muncie MY8 shifter & CV axle [Interior & Transmission] (Page 1/1)

Hello gents,

I'm in quite a pinch here and I'm reaching out to you folks for a little assistance.

I've just installed an MY8 4 speed in my 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. When I tore apart my shifter assembly apart to beadblast the parts & clean it up I unintentionally broke the plastic clamshell which holds the shifter pivot ball together. I called the West Coast Fiero and Rodney Dickman and didn't get any help. If someone has a good replacement or another 4 speed shifter they would be willing to sell I'd be grateful to buy it off of someone. Or, if any of you know of a repair/conversion that might work I'm all ears.

Also, I've hit another roadblock building the passenger side (long) CV axle. The transmission originally came out of a 1984 Chevrolet Celebrity with JA1 brakes which means is has a 33 spline outer joint at the hub assembly. My car has got JA2 brakes which means it has the larger diameter intermediate shaft (between the inner & outer joint) and a 27 spline outer joint at the hub assembly. I'm wanting to use the heavier duty inner/outer joints that my car came with originally, however the longer intermediate shaft from the Celebrity is too small a diameter to fit the splined races for the larger JA2 style joints. All of the long CV axles I can find (in a Fiero application) through Autozone and such are only available with the smaller 33 spine outer joint. Did the Fiero never receive a 27 spline joint?

Thanks for any help guys.
