'05-'10 GM Beigemobile (Page 1/2)

Any reason not to buy '05-'10 GM Beigemobile (Malibu, Impala, G6, etc.) for a young college student who needs basic transportation for very few miles annually? Seems like in terms of bang for the buck, these cars are tough to beat.

Go with the Impala, started my grandson with a Cavalair, got hit by a deer. Got him a Malibu, damn thing fell apart. Stepped up to the Impala, solid comfy car. Plus it's state police blue, so everyone slows down and avoids it.

Malibu and impala are the same platform..

to the O/P all are fine cars, it'll be more about how they were taken care of/serviced, repaired (if hit)

Malibu is a lot smaller than the impala.

Impala has an optional front bench seat.

Thanks for posting the stats on that, funny how that extra foot in width and length feels like 10ft when you've been in both cars.

How about a Cruze?
thesameguy FEB 27, 03:34 PM
A Cruze is too new/expensive. Any of these midsize GM cars is under - and possibly well under - $10k.

Bought my grandson a 2005 Impala last year for $2500, so far the only thing I've had to fix is the washer pump.

You could also consider the 2000-2005 LeSabre/Park Avenue/Bonneville. My mom had a 2002 LeSabre that was totaled when it was rear-ended in January by a teenager in a farm truck. Mom was not hurt thanks to the mass of her car.

The totaled car had 190,000+ miles on it. I found a replacement 2002 on Craigslist for $3900 with only 114,000 miles on it, and it's the fancier Limited version with HUD, heated leather seats and dual-zone climate control. It's the fourth LeSabre she's owned in 20 years and she's had great luck with them.
