Uggg.... THe things I do for friendship and old times.
Due to a friend wishing to relive our youth, yes I am included I am trying to find:
1 1976 Nova Hatchback. White red interior with a inline sic (250) and aa 3 speed...on the floor.
I am looking to modernize it, too. it does not have to run, I am looking at the "LL9" the inline vortec 6 that GM made from '02 to '09 "trailblazer, envoy, etc had)
The manual was with a bench seat... I'll be happy with looking for a 5 speed or a six speed (manual) too.
Those 3 speeds in the Nova were notorious for locking up the shiftier linkage...
any input welcome even if its just info on that "vortec inline 6" [This message has been edited by htexans1 (edited 03-16-2015).]

I had a Pontiac Ventura, 1976, 250 inline 6, auto tranny. Sister car to the Nova.

Anything in that year range up here is now just a pile of iron oxide.

(Not the best years for GM, for sure)

I never knew those cars were hatchbacks.

I had a '71 and a '79 Nova. The '71 was a 3-speed column-shift. I bound up the linkage once on a railroad crossing! It was one of those places where there are about a dozen tracks and after I'd passed the roughest of the tracks I tried shifting from 1 to 2 and got the thing stuck there mid-shift. It rolled to a stop there on the tracks and I popped the hood and had to reach down and fool around with the linkage until it "popped" back into place. A hectic couple of minutes there.

That would be a great engine swap.
I've had two Bravada's with the 4.2.
It's powerful and smooth. The first version was rated at 270 HP, then in '04 it went up to 275HP and the final ones were rated at 291HP.
With a total of close to 200K miles on the two vehicles nothing ever went wrong with the engine.
I did read on the Bravada forum that it's fairly heavy though.
