What's wrong with my wheels? (Page 1/1) |

I admit I'm an idiot about wheels. And other things too, but that's beside the point. These are on the 2005 Ranger I got from my F-I-L when he had to quit driving, and we never use it so we're going to sell it. I've tried several things to clean the wheels, most recently Mother's wheel cleaner, and the black you see here isn't phased by anything. So I'm starting to wonder if that's where paint has peeled. I run my finger over it and don't feel anything, so I can't tell. And it doesn't feel greasy or anything like that.
If making them look better will be expensive, I'll just leave them as they are.

Buy silver wheel spray and repaint them. The spray is designed specifically for wheels. I believe that Ford uses steel wheels and the silver slowly flakes off and you are left with the black wheel behind the silver.
Also if the photo is of the front wheels, the brake dust will eventually eat into the factory silver and damage it.[This message has been edited by IMSA GT (edited 04-02-2015).]

Yes it does, just make sure you prep your wheels before you paint them. Did a set of after market wheels 2 yrs ago and they still look like new.
