well my neighborh lost his license and came over a few days ago asking if i knew anyone that wanted the jeep he had been trying to get running, ive been trying to get it from the guy he managed to buy it from for ever, so a deal was struck and he pushed the old pe 250 that i had, i was never gonna finish it and it needed a compleat rebuild.
he spent a few months on and off driving it and trying to get it to start when it wouldnt, 5 mins with some contact cleaner and i got it fired up the 5 hours cleaning disinfecting and ripping out his "fixes", it had 13 12 volt sockets a crap ton of led lights and a 750 watt power inverter wired with speaker wire:huh

the floors are rotted out infront of the seats but the frame rails are really solid so i figure ill weld pans in throw a 3 inch lift and some 31s on it, paint it od green and putter around in it till the 4.0 dies then throw a 350 in it.
i need to get it running better thought the IACV isnet working so its a bit boggy
oh and its a convertable... kinda

I always liked the way they look. You sure don't see many of them anymore. If I remember correctly, they didn't crash very well (kind of like my S10-just worse). How many miles does it have on it?

I had a 89 Comanche, bone stock, 4 speed manual, rusted out bed that I bought for a few hundred dollars in the early 2000's. Drove it for 2 years until the clutch died and I sold it to a friend of mine. I lived in Western Michigan, right off of Lake Michigan - think "lake effect" snow. That little 4x4 went through EVERYTHING. I pulled full size Chevy and Ford 4x4's out of the median on US 31 many times, through 2 feet of snow. She was UNBELIEVABLE. Damn I miss that truck.

Then only money I put into it was a good set of tires and NOTHING stopped that truck. You say you plan on driving it until the 4.0 dies....you might be in for a LONG wait. You have to seriously ABUSE that engine to get it to fail. One of the best damn engines ever made. Runs and runs and runs and........you get the idea

I have always wanted another one to restore, congrats on the purchase!

I had a 99 Cherokee, as others have said, the 4.0 engine keeps running. Mine ran good, added transmission cooler and electrionic trailer brake controler . Used it to tow the Fiero on a flatbed trailer. Did a few long distance trips, Florida to Williamsburg & back, and Florida to Osage Beach MO and back. It pulled the mountains pretty good. Found it needed a weight distrubition hitch to tow the weight I was pulling safely.

Good luck with your new project. Here are two paths you might enjoy.

here it sets ass of now, just got 4 new 31s on it, the front driverside rubs a bit on the rear of the flare and inner liner when you turn a bit but only barely, the 2 inch lift for the front should help if i can ever get anyone to put it on for me... i hate being crippled lol

Pretty neat! I've seen a couple of those around. For a 4wd "mini" truck, it would probably be my top pick followed by the older (think it's 82 or older) Toyota's because they had solid front axles back then.

Personally I've always liked my trucks going the other way...

But, I can appreciate a 4wd to. I went lower in my Nissan and my best friend in highschool went higher with a 3" body lift and 36" Super Swampers on his Toyota. If we went out around town cruising we usually took my truck. If we went out with the intention to go wheeling on trails or where ever we took his. Either way we had awesome tunes with the two 10's and two 12's in my truck or the two 18's in the bed of his truck.

i figured this one will work well for winter, the fiero has been good to me in the snow, ive kinda lost interest in it though, may keep it may not at this point trying to cut down on my projects and it needs some work lol
