99 extended cab with ZR2 package. 4L60e approx 120k This only seems to happen while cold.. It surges like the converter is sort of doing a pulsating thing before shifting to the next gear. Its most noticable if you drive normal, (or gentler like grandma), if you just accelerate hard it its not that noticable (but I wouldnt usually do that until after warmup anyway) . After the vehicle is warmed up this goes away or is at least unnoticable. No service engine lights. Tranny fluid level good and doesnt smell bad. Any ideas?

I doubt it has anything to do with the ZR2 package as that was only a suspension upgrade (but a nice one). I got 31s on my old '96 (2 door/4x4) Jimmy with just a 2" body lift. The only way to fit 31s on my current '04 (4 door/4x4) Blazer is with a 6" suspension lift.

Ya this problem could probably apply to any 2nd gen V6 S10.

copied off another site this what your descrbing? The transmission experiences a shudder when shifting from first to second gear under full throttle. You need to take a look at the 1 -2 accumulator. First, check the condition of the spring found inside the accumulator. You want to make sure it is not broken. Next, take a look at the accumulator piston. Inspect it for cracks. Finally, take a look at the bore in which the piston rides in. Make sure the walls of the piston bore do not have any heavy scuff marks. Think of it as you would taking care of a new pair of shoes. You don’t want scuff marks, not just because they don’t look good, but they signify wear and tear. If it does, clean it them with a piece of emery cloth. Be sure to clean the bore with Brake Clean when done. - See more at: http://etereman.com/blog/ge...sthash.CDorw2hu.dpuf

Thought id take a stab. I gotta look over a few things. Do you have a data logger of any sort. These things do some weird stuff when sensors out of wack. The tps has a few things it causes. I gotta look back over the tsbs i had saved. I have pulled many s10 transmissions over the years. But what your describing dosent sound as an internal issue as much as it sounds a sensor. Your description is very similar to the front wheel drive transmission issues i had to hunt down. The dang thing would not do anything consistent we couldn't even make it do it. I have been real busy but if i get some time here soon Ill go back through my books.

A sensor would be much more appreciated to fix than an internal trans prob. I had considered the TPS as it was a cause of pain on my old S10 too. Thats the thing, no idiot lights. I just have a cheap code reader/deleter. ALEX brand. Thanks for your time, no big rush it doesnt get driven alot until winter and drives good otherwise anyway. yea i have not had a chance to look yet dealing with insurance from my motorcycle wreck. I meant to ask is the od light on or off or flash when it happens. You wont necessarily get a check engine from trans issues.

I don't believe it has an od light.

You might try www.s10forum.com That's one of the better forums I've ever haunted. Almost as useful as here.
