My girlfriend recently got a 06 Sebring (yeah I know) 4 cylinder. I really dislike it, but shes stuck with it until I find something better. It has 115k on.
So it accelerates fine except from a stop (like if a 6 cyl Fiero has the TPS disconnected), has a weak idle (as if it is missing) and occasionally stalls in reverse. No codes are being thrown, the plugs looked good on it as well.
Now its throwing a code for the CLT, but this happened last night after it said it overheated but I found out it was low on coolant, even after resetting the code it comes back so I assume I actually have to replace that sensor. I haven't had much time to actually dig into any of the issues, but the weak idle and jerky acceleration is driving me nuts.
Anyone have any suggestions besides setting it on fire?

A few things you can try. We had similar symptoms in our Bonneville at one time. Unplug the MAF and it went away. This of course caused a check engine light to come on and gas mileage dropped off until the new MAF arrived.
I don't know if you've had it long enough to tell but does it burn oil? Like more than a quart every 5k or so? Our Mazda stumbled like it had a misfire on acceleration. I had noted a 1-2 quart consumption between oil changes and while the plugs didn't look bad, visual of the pistons showed a wet piston in number 4, wet with oil. The engine ran about 30k or so miles that way before the #4 finally gave up the ghost and grenaded. Purchased a used engine with 63k'ish miles on it and sapped it out. Accelerates with no hesitation now and is running better than when we bought it. Oh and like your description the acceleration being weak and jerky was only from a stop. Accelerating when the RPM's were already up while going down the freeway or whatever wasn't a problem, just from a stop. Unfortunately if this is the problem the only real options are rebuild or replace. Whether replace is new/used engine or even another vehicle, if your burning oil enough for it to be visible on the piston... Thankfully used engines usually aren't to expensive. The used engine we got for our Mazda a few months back even cost less than the Z24 I had to replace in my 84 Nissan pick-up back in the 90's. Used for the Mazda was about $600 delivered and the used for the Nissan was $750 picked up.
Another possibility, why was it low on coolant? Bad head gasket? That could cause symptoms like this to.
I'd say test a few sensors and see if you get lucky. If not time for a compression check to see if your problem is more serious.

I'm with khw on the head gasket. Maybe a compression test is in order. Also, when was the last time the gas filter was replaced. I replaced one on my daughter's Sebring and it was a real pain, so maybe yours is overdue? Code for CLT? Does that stand for Coolant Level t....?

Yes Coolant Temp Sensor.
Changed it and the engine light was off. Still jerky though. Jerky as in a 1/2 second delay after the throttle opens, only with a load, free revving you can't tell. No MAF on this. IAT, MAP, CLT, TPS, O2. Crank and Cam Sensors for Ignition Input. I do like that its a simple setup.
I guess I need to do a compression test on it. They are open to selling it so that might be the best route.

I loved my 04 Sebring V6 convertible. NEVER had an issue with anything. All it cost me in almost 10 years was a $35 heater blower resistor and a couple of batteries. Sold it just because it didnt fill my needs anymore. Had 104,000 and EVERYTHING else was original except I changed to aftermarket wheels and did a color change. Guy that bought it gave it to his daughter and still hasnt done anything for repairs, just put chrome wheels (yuck) on it. I was told it was easy to blow the engine because the water pump was internal and you didnt know it was leaking or broke untill after the engine blew if you didnt regularly check the oil. I keep up on my cars pretty thoroughly and never had that problem. Also pretty quick, fun to drive, looked very sporty and got 35mpg.
