Looking for another car - C3 Corvette (Page 1/1)

So my 84 has another transmission issue, between this and the other things I need to fix - Upgrade I just don't know if I want to put any more money into it.

I have been looking for a C3 manual transmission. So far I have found a couple of them in my price range.
New enough that I can still fix most things without breaking the bank but still a classic.
I only have to avoid the red interior

Plus I plan on pulling the engine out of the 84 and hang on to it until I need it or someone makes me an offer I cant refuse. The tires and rims will also be kept if I cant get enough out of the rest of the car. The rest of the car will go on Craigslist and let someone part it out.

Just putting thoughts into text so I can get use to the idea.

I've always wanted an '82 CE (I want the working hatch). Pitifully underpowered but one of the best looking Vettes, IMHO. The '63 split window was THE best looking Vette ever produced but I wouldn't want one for a daily driver. Unlikely I'll ever have either.

59/60 are the best looking in my opinion. Classic Americana and a fun driver.

I posted about my 75 in a thread earlier .My favourite older vette is a 61/62 .Front end of a 57 -60 with the back end of a 63 -67 .I had a chance to buy one but it needed a lot of stuff so I turned it down cause the guy would not drop 500.00 in price . The advantage of the older vettes is the simple drivetrain and less maintanence costs .They really are like a shrunken impala with a fibreglass body , unlike the later IRS versions .Prices are way out of sight for these early years now though .

How far are you willing to travel? Are you willing to come down South a bit to Arkansas?

Here in Arkansas a bit North of where I am there is a guy that all he does is C3 Corvettes. Well... he does have other cars but he's a bit of a C3 specialist in terms of sales. He typically has anywhere from 4 to 10 cars that range in price from $5,000-$15,000 depending on year. He doesn't have a web page because he typically posts to Craigslist or Facebook. If you're on Facebook search for "Ray Motors". You'll know you found the right page 'cause his cover photo is all his C3s in a line.
