1999 Olds Cutlass Rad Removal (Page 1/3)
JetroGT NOV 09, 10:47 AM
I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Basically a Malibu Classic. It has a smashed in radiator from my wife hitting a truck tire laying in the road at about 2 in the morning. I want to use it as a winter beater but I am having trouble removing the radiator because it’s impacted all the way to the exhaust manifolds.
So far the best ideas I have is cutting it out or pulling it with an iron hook.
If you guys have any suggestions, let me know.

Pictures always help.

I'll take a few and post them after work.

I pulled the front of my Caravan by wrapping a chain around the crossmember and a tree. I then backed it up a few times until it was straightened out where I needed it.

I used a come along on the hitch of my Suburban for the same purpose once. With the ratchet and gentle rocking of the car I was able to get an excellent result!

I do have a few tow straps. I'm going to try setting the parking brake on the car and pulling it with the van. That's if I cant get it to drop out of the bottom.

I got it done. I would have been done hours ago, but I have a 5yr old. lol

Found a Chevy Malibu front cover / light pods / splash shield / and air dam. I would have grabbed the hood too but I ran out of room in the van.

All I need now is new antifreeze and a battery.

So if I'm following this correctly, you found the goodies you needed on a Chevy Malibu for your damaged Oldsmobile Cutlass... and they're the correct color as well? Excellent!

Thanks Patrick.
It's at least has got to be the same color. You always see that car running around with the odd fender or door. I would have rather put the broken part back on.
I'll have to keep an eye out for another hood at the yard. I would go back tomorrow but the wife was bothered by the junk yard spending.

Perhaps very gently remind her who was driving the Olds when it was damaged.
