My new obsession (Page 1/2)
AusFiero NOV 29, 05:04 AM
Now I no longer have a Fiero I have been doing up something a little more Australian.
A 1965 HD Holden Panelvan.
Plans include all modern running gear consisting of an injected 5 litre holden V8 and 4l60E auto.
Will also have 4 wheel discs, limited slip diff, power steering, rack and pinion, electric windows, central lock and air con etc.

Pics are when I bought it and how it stands at present.

The whole build is being shown on my Facebook group for the van. http://thehdvan.com takes you to the Facebook page.

The aim is to keep it period looking and custom. But at present trying to decide supercharged 3800 (have in my garage) or the complete running gear out of a restored HQ monaro. That would be 253 Holden V8 with a M21 4 Speed trans and a Salisbury Limited Slip Diff.

That's an interesting looking vehicle. It's funny how both your cars and your critters are so different down there.

A North American version from the 50's (from Here). It says "Department of Coroner" on the door.

Yep, I ended up buying a V8 Commodore Berlina station wagon to use as my donor vehicle. Makes life easier with a whole car to strip.

I'm thinking a mid-60s Buick Wildcat. Also kind of similar to a 67 Chevelle.

The HD holden has a lot of Buick influence in it.

Reminds me of a larger Robin with 2 front wheels. Why can't we have the cool old cars here in the U.S ?

I'm thinking it'll make a great Ghost Busters vehicle.
