Hello everyone. Recently I had an issue with my steering wheel arching and smoking on the way to work over a week ago. I replaced the turn signal switch because 3 out of the four spring loaded contacts that touch the turn signal cam were hanging up and it burnt through two of the four contact rings on the back of the turn signal cam. I went to find a replacement cam for my particular model with no success. I tried ebay, aftermarket parts stores and lastly the dealership only to find they discontinued the part. You can't even find anything on google.. I tried. If anyone has any knowledge on these cars please let me know. I was thinking of just replacing the steering column but I am not sure what gm models would be compatible. BTW it does not have a air bag.. I don't care if the radio function on the steering wheel works. Can a non radio controlled steering column work? Will the pin out be different for the wiper controls or turn signal switch? Someone please give me some direction. The car only has 75k original miles.

does no exist any more. I looked and looked for about 4 years and I had 5 of these from junkyard cars wanting to get it to function again but finally gave up all were broken. So. What I did find is you can get the upper assembly from a 92 firebird cam with air bag setup and use that to provide the connection between the steering wheel and the radio. It should all bold up to your column course you will have to reterminate all the wires over to the new connectors but it functionally works like a charm with that stupid cam problem to never be seen.
