A friend of mine showed me this picture on his cell phone that he had taken at his parents' place in Port McNeill, which is near the northern tip of Vancouver Island. I'd never seen anything like it before. It's apparently called hoar frost.
And this... is the hedgehog car!

Yeah, I thought it was rather interesting. I've never seen this phenomena before (either in person or even in pictures), and it kind of surprised me that this occurred not all that far away from me here on the coast.

I've seen hoar frost before just never so big and usually on vegetation like trees and such. It's pretty neat the way it crystallizes. That car though, well even my wife thinks that looks really neat. Funny thing to seeing this pop up because my wife is actually currently looking for a hedgehog for her new pet.
