The new lightweight Alfa has been kind of disappointing to me ( the 4C). Couple years back it was defined as under 2000 lbs with the 200+ hp. Then defined at 2200 lbs in Europe. Next the US version is Mr Pork @ 2500 lbs. Carbon fiber tub , great looks, high price, shaky dealerships. I have not seen one on the road yet, have you? I am waiting to see if the 1800cc engine grenades after some miles with the boost it must see. They always test it against the standard of a Porsche Boxter and it loses, mostlly. Still the older Boxter engines have potentially bad design with their IMS bearing failures. What to do??? Fix up a Fiero.

My Fiero has 210 hp and probably weighs 2900# and it's perky enough to be fun. 200 hp and 2500# still sounds like fun. Too bad it's butt ugly.

That's a good ratio. I have gone the other direction 85 GT @ 2400 lbs, but that about as far as I will go except light wheels. May bore hubs to 4 stud, maybe not possible. IMO the 4C stying is great except direct back view, then kinda Lotus Elise- looking.

I saw one at a show last summer. The first thing I noticed is that it's bigger than I expected; certainly bulkier than my Sky (though lighter). I just don't think it's possible to sell a svelte, lightweight sports car in the U.S. now due to the safety requirements. The Elise was the last one because Lotus somehow got an airbag exemption. Once that ran out they had to stop selling it here.
And yes, I fear for the longevity of that 1.8 they put in it.
