Im starting an AMC Rambler SCRambler tribute car. Build thread. (Page 1/4)

I bought a 1966 AMC Rambler Rogue. It's rough and rusted out beyond repair in the floor and frame rails. Plus no title.
I plan to take the 66 Rogue and put all the parts from it on the 69 Rambler which is also a Rogue. Rogues are 2 door hard tops with no B pillar just like the 69 SCRambler. A 2 door Sedan has a B pillar between the front and rear side windows.

So I bought a donor body for sheet metal.

After much grief trying to figure the title problem out I just went ahead and bought an Arizona body with a title. Definetly overpaid but worth it.

Then I picked up a T56 with a 97 Z28 rear end with all the goodies at the Las Vegas Fiero Club from Rich.

I struck gold with a honey hole here in Rockford IL. for parts. I scored some doors and whole ton of other parts.

Some engine pics. My fresh 383 stroker 4 bolt main.

I picked an engine color finally. AMC Lancelot Turquoise. It's an OEM engine color.

This is the PPG formula. Its acrylic enamel. It sprays really well with Preval sprayer with a little reducer.

Got some cutting to do.

Had to move the frame rails for the 11" tires.

Making my own pockets for Calvert springs and Caltracs. Had to move the springs in too.

1/4" X 3" reinforcement.

Boxing the frame rails.

Regarding the engine: The textured black on the intake and accessories really sets it off. If the rest of the car looks as good as the engine, it's going to be fantastic!

I agree that the engine looks great. My good friend was an AMC enthusiast....Built up a 1971 Javelin using Mark Donohue's "The Unfair Advantage" book about Trans Am racing....Built up an AMC (401) V8 with slightly milder cam but it could rev to over 7000 and produced approx' 500 hp. Set up the suspension really well also. He was driving up into the Sierra foothills with a Ferrari Testarossa trying to keep up....Another time he came off the Bay Bridge following a 911 Turbo and then passed him on a curve doing over 100- the Porsche could not catch him.

At one point he had his main Javelin, another similar one, a '69 AMX and a Gremlin....We started referring to his house as "Brian's used Rambler emporium"

I called Calvert racing today, They said the spring pockets need to be 3" wide for Caltracs. I guessed correctly.

Thanks guys.
I plan to keep in line with the original 66 Rogue.
I want to use House of Kolor Tangelo for a base coat with heavy HOK Root Beer over it and a Pearl White roof.
