What we used to call "modern art" is the perfect metaphor for the misguided masses. (see? I didn't even say "leftist")
Jackson Pollock is the definitive example.

my older bro was at that party shortly after WW2
peggy hit on my bro first he said no thanks he had a young french wife and a younger student GF and no spare energy for her so peggy G left that party with the drunken DRIPPER
peggy had a museum named for her but my brother was not a starving artist he had a professor position at ny state college thanks to his masters deg and did not need her money but was very much part of the NY abstract seen
but peggy is the only reason the dripper ''work'' is worth so much to day
to bad my bro was not a bit more hungry and had less lady-friends then

"Plato's Cave"
Impressionism comes to mind, as the eyes gaze upon this painting by Danielle Maillet-Vila, 1945-?
Danielle Maillet-Vila first opened her eyes upon the world, upon (or shortly after) her birth on March 3, 1945, in Angers, France.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 10-25-2023).]

I don't see impressionist art in the same way as I see that formless trash that you posted above. This one has some meaning.

Brent Harris expounds on his "Plato's cave: painting no.4 (2005)
About the artist:
quote | Brent Harris was born (1956) in Palmerston North, New Zealand, and gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne in 1984. His paintings and works on paper are characterised by stark planes, often black and white, swooping organic gestures and expressionist shapes. 'Many of his forms vibrate, rise and fall, and cause the viewers eye much exercise in following them', noted James Mollison in Art and Australia recently.
But what surprises most is the sensuality of the work; as though the sharp lines and immaculate surfaces can barely contain the emotions brooding beneath. This is the unconscious meshed with a taut, graphic sensibility.
Brent Harris has exhibited extensively in Australia since 1985. Recently his work was seen in Orifice, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art and Field Work: Australian Contemporary Art 1968-2002 at the National Gallery of Victoria. His solo show - The Face - at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2004 was described by Peter Hill as, 'of-its-time yet strangely out-of-time.' He currently lives and works in Melbourne. |
