In the past, rayb has demanded immigration restrictions based on religion and ethnicity. Now he wants to add ideology to that list.
Rayb is exactly like sourmash. Both are ignorant, hateful bigots.

529,000 + 118,00 = 647, 000
What ever happened to the other 1,960, 000 applications audited ?

From Oct '23: A completely separate illegal immigration system that dwarfs Congress’s lawful system
quote | The Center has recently reported that the Biden administration “paroled” more than 221,000 nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela into the United States under its “CHNV parole program”, plus nearly 226,000 others who applied for appointments at the Southwest border ports of entry using the CBP One mobile app. Add in 908,788 illegal entrants who were apprehended by Border Patrol at the U.S.-Mexico line but released into the United States anyway, and the total surges to nearly 1.4 million aliens with no right to enter the United States who will be living here indefinitely anyway, thanks to the Biden administration’s ad hoc illegal immigration system, which is completely divorced from Congress’s limits in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). |

I don't know. That is a good question. This whole story is full of holes.

Kamala Harris is the Vice President. If the President steps down for any reason, the Vice President takes his place. In this case Joe Biden is handing his candidacy to his Vice President because he feels that he should not peruse a second term. Is there a problem with that?

...but these people don't have their storied pomp in order at all! Didn't they read the call we put out? It says right there: "Keep your huddled poor. We want storied pomp, dammit!"

Being completely honest... this was OK until a segment of our population figured out how to exploit them... and they do this through welfare. Welfare to a degree, goes beyond creating a safety-net, and creates a life of servitude. The illegals coming into this country are being classified as asylum seekers (which the overwhelming vast majority of them are not). They're being given court cases that are over a decade out (I'm serious). When adjudicated, they would NOT be classified as refugees, and instead would be asked to leave.
By classifying them as asylum seekers, the administration has the direct authority to grant them billions and billions in welfare entitlements. They become immediately eligible for nearly everything... at the expense of the country. You basically cannot have open immigration (which we have) and a welfare system (which we basically also have). The two directly lead to catastrophe.
Keep in mind the difference of one or the other... if you had a welfare state, you'd limit the number of people coming in because you'd know it would lead to financial ruin. If you had open immigration, but no welfare, you wouldn't have as many people coming over because they would know they would likely be living in abject poverty. Here, we give them housing and apartments, and 3 square meals a day. Sure, it's nice... but we don't even do that for our own poor.
I'm sure you can see the problem here?
It's also a different time than when that was written. The United States was a leader in industry and manufacturing. Not everything we made was quality... we made cheap stuff too... like "dollar watches" back in the day from companies like Ingersoll and New Haven watches. When people came over in huddled masses... there was work to be had. There were jobs everywhere... and we didn't even have a minimum wage until like 1940. While I still think we should absolutely take refugees... I don't think we should be taking people who just want free-bees... which is exactly what's going on right now on the southern border. To that end, many countries are literally emptying their prisons (taking the burden off them), if they promise to go to America. We just can't have the system we have right now... no other country is effectively doing what we're doing.
It would be silly if we didn't acknowledge that Democrats are doing this for no other reason than they think it'll give them long-term power.[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 08-07-2024).]
