One again you are talking about something you know nothing about. I know first hand as it is my job to know.

No you do not know. I posted the proof that shows you are wrong.
Consumer spending has been going up. Your claim that "people don't have the money" is complete BS. You just made that up in your head because you don't know anything about on-line shopping.
How many store did you monitor?
How many hours did you spend at each one?
How many people did you have working with you to monitor other stores?
How did you monitor the amounts of on-line spending?
What is your job? Why do you still have it when you don't have a clue about how to monitor consumer spending?[This message has been edited by BingB (edited 09-02-2024).]

Since you provide one link you are an expert on retail sales. You are just one big assumption.

No I am saying that I am NOT an expert. I am not qualified to make a statement on consumer spending because it is something that is impossible for a single person like me (or you) to measure based on limited anecdotal evidence.
That is why I did the research and learned the ACTUAL FACTS instead of just making up something in my head and claiming that it is true..

I have worked in the retail food trade since 1981. I don't need to make anything up as I can see first hand. I speak to my peers out in the stores and they are all are saying the same thing. Most of us make our money of the sales so we know because our pay is down. My work area covers four counties. When you have a big eating holiday and people are not buying Beer, snacks, soda and other cook out items it's not hard to notice. You never ask what area I worked in you just assumed you had the answer. Have a nice day[This message has been edited by jdv (edited 09-03-2024).]

I don't care what area you work in because your anecdotal evidence is meaningless. Just because it rains where you live that does not mean it is raining everywhere in the country.
Consumer spending is up not down. The numbers prove it.

One could also say consumer spending is up because everything is more expensive.....
Another study:
"As of July 2024, U.S. adults on average reported spending 8.8% less than in the same month a year ago, after accounting for inflation and seasonal factors. While softer reported spending was broadbased, discretionary categories showed a steeper drop, declining 15.2% over the past year."

Credit card debt is also at an all-time high....

I don't know where they get their information but I can't make any sense out of them. It looks like they are claiming people are spending $100 les per month in housing than they did just one month ago. I won't pay to see all their info. Maybe you can explain it to me.
The US Bureau of Economic Analysis shows consumer spending rising steadily.[This message has been edited by BingB (edited 09-03-2024).]
