Tell ya one thing...
Even though there is a 0.0000000000000000000001% chance they would show up here demanding forced labor--keyboard and printer skills just arent that rare---I feel a headache coming on, and I cant really taste my coffee and my nose started running.....and I guess I just have to stay here until I feel better.
GFY, Tiurdeau.

I just closed the browser tab... damn, but it basically more or less says what MEM said, minus the Gulag part.
Basically it says:
1 - They can freeze all accounts, and cancel your vehicle insurance if you are in any way part of the protest. 2 - They can confiscate your vehicle 3 - They can COMPEL any and all tow truck drivers to support the removal of these vehicles. 4 - If in #3, the tow truck drivers do not support, then the trucks can be confiscated and used in the removal of vehicles. 5 - They have passed unlawful assembly laws, no more than 10 people are allowed to gather in any one place, at any one time. 6 - If you resist at any point from 1-5 above, you can be charged with a crime.
Caveats: - Trudeau said the law would be targeted and focused (meaning that he wouldn't just use his new authorities across the entire country anywhere) - Trudeau said that he would not use the military (and the military previously told him not to even try because they felt it wasn't appropriate)
Personally, I think this will probably get interesting, and I say that because there are some rabid people who are probably frothing at the mouth right now, so intoxicated at how erotic the abuse of power is for them... but for normal people, this is a bit scary, and probably a little absurd to take it to this level by issuing emergency powers. I also know that on occasion, progressives often have a hard time NOT taking full advantage of their power when it's available to them, so I suspect he will likely get himself into a mess. What do I know, I'm not Canadian, I've only been to Ontario and Kingston like three times in my whole life to work with the guys at the Royal Military College. So, we'll see. As long as the Coors Light and Tim Hortons K-Cups continue to flow... just kidding. I absolutely support what the truckers want. I realize that for Trudeau this is far more about vanity than it is anything related to science or public safety... but everyone else is dropping restrictions and going back to normal.
What I do know about Trudeau is that, he refuses to lose. So, if the truckers do "lose," and the mandates stay in place, Trudeau won't turn around next week and lift them all... he will probably just make them last longer for spite.

You believe those caveats ????
And the check is in the mail, I only had one beer, the vax is safe, and it's only 2 weeks to flatten the curve.
And that whole "part of the protest"....My "No More Lockdowns" sign that has been out front for 18 months makes me "part of the protest". Something that simple. THIS is a crackdown on dissent.
The way the Emergencies Act is written, all he has to do is find an excuse (1 case of wet farts...er...covid) every couple of weeks to keep extending it perpetually.[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 02-15-2022).]

Fidel Trudeau invoking Emergency Act on his own working class citizens by labeling them terrorist is very disturbing. You know this ‘emergency’ powers will never go away. You are seeing a leftist authoritarian regime being erected. This is very sad.

So many mirror image differences between current peaceful 'rights protests' compared to past peaceful 'rights protests'. And, in how they are/were handled..... A peaceful MLK march that blocks a road? Release the dogs, turn on the firehoses and call out the national guard and all the white folks cheered.. A peaceful antiwar protest, same thing and again all the conservatives cheered.

Its all about subversion (subversion against the citizen?) now, no gov likes the publicity images of their jackboots broadcast on the free media. [This message has been edited by 2.5 (edited 02-15-2022).]

I'd forgotten about this little fiasco.....Egg, meet face.
Trudeau voiced support for farmers in India who blocked major highways to New Delhi for more than a year in 2021, saying at the time: "Canada will always be there to defend the right of peaceful protest."

Well... to be clear, I wasn't alive then, and should not be blamed for things that I had no control over.
Also, the only family I do have with roots in the US... they've been Republican their whole lives, and have a father/son duo that fought for the Missouri 23rd Volunteer Regiment for the Union Army in the civil war (also, Revolutionary War, WW1, Korean, WW2, and Vietnam).
So I reserve the right to stand next to you off to the side and cast subjective and judgmental looks at everyone else who's white and likely guilty of such unspeakable acts. I am also 1/2 Hispanic, so totally going to milk that one and invoke my minority status so I also cannot be blamed for all the ills of society. If anyone criticizes me for being a man, I will immediately claim my new right to identify as trans and / or a birthing person.

I didn't think you could identify as a "birthing person" only actual females, no matter what they identified as can be birthing person.
