Well sure, that's how it's sold to the general public time and time again... whether that be by the US or the UK or Russia or China or whomever. If the public was told the actual truth (in most situations), that a war was being waged to protect (and/or boost) the economic interests of mega-corporations, who the heck would want to put their lives on the line?

So, how does that theory apply to Ukraine and/or Israel?

It may not apply to Israel and the Arab world, as that conflict is so complicated and longstanding... but it surely applies to Russia's invasion and appropriation of Ukraine territory. There are huge economic gains to be made by Russia taking over Crimea and other Ukraine territories.

For Ukraine, we made an agreement with them to fully defend them (with troops and arms) when we negotiated disarmament of their air force, nuclear weapons, and large ships after the collapse of the USSR... which I think was signed in 1993. The problem is that we make so many agreements without consideration of the fact that we'll have to abide by them at a later time.
Growing up as a kid, we used to play a game called "Sid Meyer's Civilization." We had to make treaties and pacts... both for peace, trade, and alliances with other entities. It was always a pain in the ass when someone attacked someone else and they'd say... "Hey, remember that agreement we made?" and then we had to act on it... thus putting us at war with someone who we'd previously been neutral with, haha...

Thanks for posting that, I agree. It's unfortunate that Dems don't recognize their failure from the last four years. I don't believe DJT is by any means a perfect person but, we all know how and what he did as President prior to the Biden era. By Harris's own admission, she couldn't think of anything she would have done differently than Biden and played a role in the decisions made.
There are other actors that played a huge role in this election but, by far IMHO, it was Harris's failure to address policy that made the Dem base drop her. The Biden/Harris policies were a huge failure in the minds of the majority of American voter's minds. Then, when she did (late in the campaign) finally started saying a few things that could have changed minds, everything she said was directly opposite of what she had done/said her entire political career. Harris was a terrible choice for the Dems to run for the highest office in the land.
Not that I like him but, I fully expect Gov. Newsome from CA to start his future campaign run any time now.
