If you look at the comments under the article, you will quickly notice not many people followed the bold type advice G. Washington gave.
It went off the rails pretty fast.

Still is. The law actually specifies it as Washington's Birthday but to businesses and the common man, it is also President's Day, and something called Sticky Bun Day.
