Anyone who has studied film will remember this fictional scene.

The Russians are now closing in on Odessa for real.

"Ukraine is home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites."

Worth a "scroll through", IMO. There are 5 photo images with captions. And a Twitter message.

"As a result of 🇷🇺 invasion, about 25 works by outstanding 🇺🇦 artist Mariia Pryimachenko were burned. The paintings were stored in Ivankiv Museum, Kyiv region. She created world-famous masterpieces. Her special gift and talent captivated Pablo Picasso." [Image of 'Two-headed chicken, 1977']

Very good and timely post, rinse.
Thank you.

I've been to several sites in western Europe (not in Ukraine, unfortunately) and the museums , architecture and history is incredible.

The sadness for the loss of the historic sites throughout the world due to the evil in the hearts of power hungry men is heartbreaking.

Update from the New York Times. An easy "scroll" to see photos of some of Ukraine's architectural treasures that are at risk, and in some cases, already damaged.
https://www.nytimes.com/202...rchitecture-war.html

One such treasure that is referenced in this update is the Derzhprom or Gasprom building adjacent to Freedom Square in Ukraine's second largest city of Kharkiv.

In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, Russian attackers hit multiple landmarks, including the city’s sprawling Freedom Square, home to Derzhprom, or the Palace of Industry, an eye-popping Constructivist building dating from 1928 that is currently on a UNESCO “tentative” list for consideration as a World Heritage site in the future. The nearby Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and next-door Kharkiv Philharmonic were reduced to ruins.
