Video of a Russian pilot apparently admitting he had been ordered to bomb a civilian target has been widely shown on Ukrainian media.

During a press conference streamed by Interfax Ukraine, the pilot, who gave his name as Maxim Krishtop, described how he had learned of his orders, which he carried out before being shot down on March 6 and captured by Ukrainian forces.

"In the process of completing the task, I realized that the target was not enemy military facilities, but residential buildings, peaceful people.

"But I carried out the criminal order," said Krishtop, a lieutenant colonel and deputy commander of the 47th Aviation Regiment, adding that he was shot down by Ukraine's air defense system and taken prisoner.

He said he carried out three bombing missions in Ukraine, some of which involved deploying FAB-500— Soviet-era air-dropped bombs with a high-explosive warhead.

Pilot Asks for Forgiveness
"I recognize the enormity of the crimes committed by me. I want to ask forgiveness from the entire Ukrainian people for the misfortune that we brought them," he said.

"I will do everything in my power to end this war as quickly as possible, and bring those responsible for this genocide of Ukrainians to justice."

Intelligent people speak because they have something to say, fools speak because they have to say something.
Consider that before telling anyone what's on your mind.

So yeah... Knew it was criminal, but proceeded, anyway.

Three times.

NOW he wants forgiveness.

WTH else was he gonna say, eh?

Apparently some Russians only develop a conscious after being caught.
But, it is an indication of what it takes to gain rank in the Russian Air Force.

This looks to possibly be the same guy that earlier videos showed while he was still in his blue flight suit, bloody and blindfolded.

Time will tell, but I personally tend to take these wartime "confessions" with a huge grain block of salt because they are usually coerced in some manner.

I have no doubt some "pressure" was applied but, if it was my country's civilians being bombed, I might apply a bit of pressure also.
The destruction in those cites didn't just happen due to a stray round or two.

I am a little confused here about the bitching, honestly. Is this a war or a sporting event ?

'Cuase in a sporting event it's uncool to go after the opponents fans. The same does not hold true in a war. In a war it's about winning by any means necessary. If that means bouncing a golf-ball off the other sides head cheerleaders tits, then so be it.

It's not really the kind of activity where ya can sit down and cry "that's not fair" (Not supporting anybody in this thread, just saying Putin seems to have got his tactics right)

And this would be the actions of a "Peace Keeping Force" as has been advertised? Not even talking about it being an Un-Invited/Invading Peace Keeping Force.

Best way to peace is keep the war as short as possible.

Best way to keep the war as short as possible is to make it too costly and painful for the other side to play.

Simple. Ya dont ***** -slap the schoolyard bully and hope for a truce. Ya kick him in the nuts, knee the nose, and some boots to the ribs while he is down. Then you KNOW the rest of the day will be peaceful. (well, until the cops show up anyway )

No doubt about how to win. Similar tactics worked for the Nazi's but, they also made generational enemies that will never be forgotten. I doubt (especially Ukrainians) the rest of the world will remember Putin's invasion as a favorable thing. Putin will eventually win this battle but, the war will go on for a very long time is my bet. This action will result in the Russian people paying a very high price for Putin's ego and ambitions.

I heard he had WMDs, KKK insignias too.

Of course civilians are dying. The Ukrainians use them as human shields. They tried to get Russia to take out a nuke power station. Rams' sources even lied that Chernobyl was intentionally attacked.
