I don't personally know anyone who actually believes "Q" is a real thing.
My understanding is that "Q" (other than the guy on Star Trek), was a reference to Federal employees who were going to do the right thing in helping to stop corruption. It was non-specific. But as with everything else... the IRA got a hold of the idea and started turning it into something really crazy with all kinds of memes and stuff... and then a lot of people who have a propensity for those things, took it and ran with it.
But yeah, it was never a thing... at least I never believed it would be. Leaking classified information is illegal, regardless of why someone feels justified in doing it, it's still illegal and you take an oath. There are other ways... and the idea that someone named "Q" would be doing such a thing, would not somehow make it right.
