"A world without bullshit jobs that have no use and purpose whatsoever." (Page 1/1)

There are no bullshit jobs. If someone is paying you to do a job, then it's something that needs to get done

I must, respectfully, disagree. There are bullshit jobs, but they fall into two classifications, which depend on the viewpoint of the viewer:

1] Jobs that do not produce a necessary component required for the survival of society. Typically, these are jobs that require a Liberal Arts degree. No, not school teacher. Artist, writer, "X" Studies professor, Egyptologist ( a pyramid scheme if there ever was one), Director of Diversity and Inclusion, etc. I enjoy art and music as much as the next guy. Well, maybe a bit less. But these jobs, and many others are not required for society to function. Just look at the last two years.

2] Low wage, soul crushing repetitive jobs like fast food, office drone, assembly line worker, checkout counter, etc. These are jobs that offer -zero- talent, ability, or creative input from the worker. They're just another cog in the machine. Better off done by a machine, because that's all the that's all you are if you do this.

Which view of "Bullshit Jobs" do you have?

All of “Hollywood” falls within your first category, and in little more that a generation they will all be replaced by computer animation. Your grandchildren will not have to hear incessant whining about who slapped who during a narcissistic display of self celebration.

In the future, the left will have to look elsewhere for guidance. Perhaps they could worship carnies or people who sell used shoes on Ebay.

None of those are technically "bullshit" jobs.

1) There are jobs that help "progress" society, not just maintain survival. Pretty much all of space travel is unnecessary, but it's there to help us improve and progress society. While I totally agree with you about DEI and Gender Studies... if there is someone /actually/ hiring for that job, and paying for someone to do that job, then there's money to be made and work to be done... even if I think it's retarded.

2) Low wage jobs are not bull **** jobs. I've worked at McDonalds, CompUSA, and Scotty's Hardware, and I considered all three of them to be a privilege. I learned valuable lessons at each one. The first one, I learned work ethic, and discovered that managers have schedules to keep and that you can't just show up when you feel like working. At CompUSA, I learned about retail and stocking shelves, and how inventory control works. At Scotty's Hardware, I learned a wealth about tools, how to build wheel barrows, how to cut glass, how to mix paint, how to build BBQs, the different kinds of fertilizers, wall anchors, etc. Every job I've ever had, I learned something that made me better as a person. If that's landscaping, digging a ditch, there's something to be learned about it.

Bullshit jobs are those where the company lies through its teeth to get staff, abuses the **** out of them while they work there, steals from them, acts like they have no legal rights and laws don't apply to them, put staff in the hospital with working conditions, they try to absolve themselves of all responsibility for their actions.

Or maybe that bullshit companies. Meh, same bullshit.
Fats MAR 31, 11:39 PM
I don't know if I've ever had a bullshit job. I've had a job that could have been done by a robot. But that doesn't make it bull, it just means I provided enough value to justify the guy paying me to do the menial task. The product is still needed.

And the Hollywood type stuff is kinda needed as well. We could all do without the people most of the time, but the arts side of things is needed to give us a break from reality.

Very true. But some people want those jobs to go away. The sick "cult" doesn't like those people. They don't like hard work and work ethic. They also don't like knowing they used a fossil fuel based vehicle to get to/earn money at those jobs.

Many jobs that are considered bullsh*t were ment as starter jobs. But thanks to the FLOODING of our southern border with immigrants and crony capitalism not to mention kiosks, they have been denied work. That's "progress" to leftists. Displace and REPLACE citizens who've had roots in this country for generations. It's a planned "progressive" genocide to destroy the USA.

This stay at home or office cubicle BS "learn to code" crap teaches nothing. Which is why many millennials have the poorest work ethic. Dumb as rocks. AND they don't know how to do the basic things. Simple small engine repair, yard work, repairing a house breaker, basic home maintenance. GROOMED to live off YouTube help videos. Then when they fail, what then? The sick "cult" forced all those other jobs away or are now in extreme short supply.

There have been Democrats like in my state of CT who've tried to close Vocational Tech Trade High Schools. Am I the ONLY ONE seeing this NewWorldOrder stupid way of thinking and where its "progressing" to?

Exactly. Most states here in the US side with the EMPLOYER, when it comes to Dept of Labor disputes.

Working in the cable industry I've seen this. Us field techs are hated by the customer (not me) and the higher-ups (they do hate me) because they have NO CLUE what we have to deal with or come across. And I let them know it. So they make it harder for the experienced, knowledgeable, dependable senior techs as a way of forcing them to leave. They want drones. It's a failing industry. So over the years most telecoms have switched to sending the customer the equipment for self installation. But then we go out for the trouble call for minimum wage to fix. In the end, no more field technicians who know anything left.

Why would an industry treat it's FRONTLINE technicians who spent 2 years going into LOCKED DOWN HOMES setting up highspeed broadband to teachers and children be treated this way?
Guess I'm not essential to the progressive plan.

Also true. Same with sports. However, they're all grossly over-paid. When I see that commercial with Scarlett Johansson talking about 1 in x children go to bed hungry saying I need to donate... They don't realize they're part of the problem.

But that won't change. A certain sick "cult" needs these propaganda "artists" to go on big media to address the masses to scam more money back to them.

Bullshit jobs are always necessary.

Horseshit jobs are important too.

Even chickenshit jobs are required.
