Mark Esper has been talking up his newly published hardcover "A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times."
Reading between the lines, Esper explains that his most important task was to defend the United States from Trump's mercurial temperament and crackpot ideas.
In these two "fresh from the oven" interviews, Esper defends what he describes as his decision to stay on as the nation's Secretary of Defense until Trump had him replaced after the 2020 national elections.

So far the progressives haven't had a case to prove an insurrection happened,....BUT the Southern Boarder is insurrecteted every day and Brandon sends them free baby formula and government paychecks

My biggest disappointment with Trump was that he kept hiring these swamp creatures. Now another one wants to sell a book. Go figure.

The southern border... meh.
Trump could have improved that during his first term, in January of 2018. If he hadn't gotten hoodwinked by the extremists in his own (Republican) party. https://www.businessinsider...e-republicans-2018-1
Esper (or someone) was saying that Trump wanted to fire a Patriot missile at a meth lab in Mexico and pretend like the meth lab blew up on its own.
A Patriot air defense missile.
They should have let Trump fire one with his own index finger. Making sure the air space downrange was clear of any possible aircraft for the Patriot missile to lock onto.
If he had even half a brain, he might well have been elected to a second term. Elected by enough of a margin that even a few election shenanigans couldn't have stolen it for Biden.[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 05-17-2022).]

In a way. The Trump administration is when you care more about loyalty than you do competence. Look at the PA primary for example. Oz started sucking up hard to Trump. Even though there were better suited candidates (to be fair, they all kind of sucked), but at least -some- of them were more principled in their beliefs. As of like 3 years ago, Oz was calling for an AR ban and supporting trasgenderism in kids. . . all because Oz sucked up to Trump, Trump endorsed him. Loyalty>principles>competence.
This is the result of that. Surround yourself with a bunch of "yes-men" and end with a **** show.
