The problem with all of these stuff going on, is that it's not really just about people being gay, it's an attempted culture-shift by the left to create victims.
My daughter goes to an A+ rated public school in a Republican school district. They have GSA stuff everywhere, and all the things the Democrats say aren't happening, are happening in this school. Of my daughter's dozen or so closest friends, more than half of them have some sort of sexual identification that is "other." A bunch of them refer to themselves as pan-sexual, some bi-sexual, etc. They're all 12-13, so pretty sure not a single one of them has ever had sex (hopefully not at least). But they all have been taught to "identify" as something.
My daughter has one friend who identifies as a boy (she's a girl) and is dating a boy who identifies as a girl. Even though it's literally a girl dating a boy, they say they are in a non-hetero-normative relationship.
The problem I have is that the prevalence of people who suffer from gender dysphoria is exceptionally rare. Like... on the average of 1 per every 200k.
With Democrats, especially young Democrats, they want so desperately to be apart of something greater than themselves. They see political action and protests not as a way to further an agenda, but to make themselves feel like they're making a difference in the world. They could be volunteering at a soup kitchen, or volunteering for places like Habitat for Humanity, but instead, simply aligning with a cause is often more important. Politicians are quick to capitalize on this, and will use this to create "wedge issues" in an attempt to stoke angst from both sides, and paint one side as being abhorrent.
The reality of the situation though, is that the overwhelming vast majority of people who claim to be something other than normally straight or gay, are actually either just "rebelling" or are just bi-sexual or gay. When I was in high school, we had clicks. I wasn't in a specific click, just hung out with people I had similarities with. But in my high school, you had a bunch of different groups:
- Goths : Kids who dressed in all black, they liked Marilyn Manson and The Crow - Jerry's Kids : Kids who wore huge Mexican parkas, wore sandals, had long hair, and wore big bell bottoms. They listened to Jerry Garcia stuff, what is that Grateful Dead? - Band Kids : I was in Orchestra, there was no click for that... but the band kids were all about music, many of them wrote their own music and they hung out together. - Magic the Gathering : The kids that played that magic card game, they'd hang out under the stairs in recess, and they got beat up a lot. - Sports Kids : Maybe I was closest to this, but it was mostly the football kids and cheerleaders. I ran track all four years. - Academics: A honor role kids, and they excelled in school.
Anyway, the GSA kids have become their own click now... and you know how kids are... they want to be part of "something."
It wouldn't be a problem if parents weren't so retarded and didn't know that most kids doing this are just rebelling or trying to be part of "something." But many parents unfortunately, are also retarded, and the government is even more retarded than they are... so they encourage it, and the kids... being kids... don't understand limits... so many of them eventually convince themselves that they actually are transgender and go through the transition process... even at an early age by taking hormone blockers.
I don't think it's too much to ask to keep this stuff entirely out of elementary and middle schools. I know that by high school, people are almost adults... but damn.
I'm going to pull a 2.5, but this video kind of expresses how I feel about this stuff:
