Canada losing their guns? (Page 1/2)

Can you guys confirm / deny for me? I don't really understand Canadian law, but is this true?

Has their parliament passed law, or is this merely a decree by Trudeau?

I know that Canada's constitution is very much based on ours, though the concept is different, less like a Republic and more centrally governed. Just curious if there are any checks and balances that allow Canadian citizens to appeal this. Seems like Trudeau is looking to completely eliminate all guns in Canada, unless I'm grossly misunderstanding.

I'll say this, until 3 months ago, there were never any guns in my family's home (and only now, I have a small .22 pink rifle). But I would be enraged if I was Canadian, and I'd be looking to acquire as many guns as I possibly could to protect my rights.

The ban on sales is by decree as I understand now.

The rest is a bill that he is trying to fast-track through and wants it to become effective by the fall.

But yeh, more gun-grabbing.

Mandatory buy-back (confiscation) of "assault" type, a hard limit of 5 rounds for long guns and if the gun cant be modified to accommodate its banned, total ban on future handguns. Includes air guns, plus he wants to ban toys that LOOK like "assault" rifles.

****er needs to be taken back behind a barn somewhere.

... that's legal in your country? I guess I don't understand it, but he has the legal authority to just make decrees and they become law like that? Our president can technically issue Executive Orders, but there's actually nothing in the Constitution that permits it. The only legal backing that he has is that it provides specific direction for government in the enforcement of specific existing laws, but the President does not have the authority to "make law" by decree. Sometimes (and it's only been in the case of Democrats from what I can see), the president will issue an Executive Order that goes beyond what the president's duties are in "executing the duties of the Executive branch" and the court rules them unconstitutional (meaning explicitly that there is no law that justifies the president's EO), so it's rescinded immediately.

But damn... you mean Trudeau can literally just say... "No more buying and selling of guns... period?"

I'm telling you right now, if the US Government tried to take guns en-mass from people in this country, there would be an immediate civil war, and the government would lose. It would take several more generations of liberal indoctrination and propaganda before the U.S. would freely give up their guns like Australia did.

YUP....Administrative law.

Ya need a licence to buy or sell them, so they just freeze the licence......just like the bank accounts of anybody who protests them.

No different really than road-side suspensions for SUSPECTED impaired driving.

It's the mentality here....licence everything, then use yanking the licence as a means of control.

OTOH, just ordered one of these and am starting work on a nice frame for it. Be here in the morning. 3'x5'......NOPE, nuttin hiding behind dat frame

Yup..."The Trooper"...

Had something similar when I was a 16-year-old headbanger, 80's mullet, leather jacket in summer and all...

Saw a local guy selling them and just had to get one ....15 bucks.

Sheeeet, at one time I had every album they put out and wore out all of them....records, tapes and CD's. (if the younger guys even know what those are)

Meh, I like the message it sends Trudumb...
