This is going to be a severe test for Gorilla Glue.

I thought about whether to post this here or in the more generic Totally O/T section. I guess this is the politics of destruction. A totally nihilist movement.

This report from Austin's local Fox News affiliate has high quality photographs of the artifacts, before they were damaged or destroyed: along with the Greek artifacts, a Native American Batah Kuhuh Alligator Gar Fish Effigy Bottle that is (or was) a "stunner."

"$5M in ancient art at Dallas Museum of Art destroyed by man 'mad at his girl,' police say"

The Washington Post has an extensive report.

Estimated $5 million in damages may come down as curators and restoration experts eye possible repairs to some of the artifacts.

A man broke into the Dallas Museum of Art, shattered glass display cases with a metal stool and damaged several ancient artifacts, according to museum officials and police.

Museum officials said the man, identified by authorities as 21-year-old Brian Hernandez, broke into the museum after hours on Wednesday night, entered exhibits and smashed art, including three ancient Greek artifacts and a Native American contemporary ceramic piece. Those four pieces were “seriously damaged” in addition to about a dozen smaller pieces that sustained minor damage, officials said in a statement on Friday to The Washington Post.

The museum is working with insurers and curators to determine what can be restored and the cost of the damages, but officials said the total could be much less than the $5 million price tag that was initially reported.

Damaged or destroyed: Artifacts from Greece's Golden Age, and a remarkable Native American treasure

In an ancient exhibit, he allegedly shattered a display case containing two Greek artifacts — a black-figure panel amphora, a sixth-century B.C. pot, as well as a red-figure pyxis and lid dating back to the fifth century B.C., museum officials said. Officials said a second smashed case contained a black-figure kylix, an ancient Greek bowl. All three items were badly damaged, the officials said.

Near the end of the rampage, he allegedly picked up a hand sanitizer stand and used it to break another case, then reached inside and grabbed a Native American Batah Kuhuh Alligator Gar Fish Effigy Bottle statue, smashing it on the ground, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

"Mad at his gril"

A witness told police that when Hernandez was found by security and asked what he was doing, he said he “got mad at his girl” so he broke into the museum and started destroying property, the arrest warrant affidavit stated.

Museum officials said he was not armed and no one was injured.

A truly bizarre incident: did his GF work at the museum? was she an Art History major? was he 'raised' by absentee, archeologist parents?

Yeah, "totally"...
Aren't moderate leftists actively destroying a country? Trillions in damages? Lives and futures in ruins? No, you wouldn't post ANYTHING like that would you. Just more village road show BS brought to you by the descendents/followers of the philosophers (nut-jobs), intellectuals (elitist$), dreamers (lazy) from the Frankfurter Schule of Marxism as a distraction

Hey look, A squirrel!

Can't wait to see what your 'Word of the Day' calender or AI programming is gonna tell you what to use in your next post on PFF.

Details remain sketchy. But this is from that report that I already posted:

quote
[Museum spokesperson Agustin Arteaga] said the alleged "girl" Hernandez was mad at is not an employee or associated with the museum.

"We don't have any connection that we know of, or that person, related to the [Dallas Museum of Art]," Arteaga added.

This is ridiculous. Maybe these things happened in the past, and we only hear about this nonsense because of social media and the power of the internet, but I'm quickly starting to discount this issue.

I truly believe the greatest problem in our time is mental illness. There are so many people I know who are on medication for mental health concerns. I will say that all of them are left-leaning (since this is labelled politics), but I don't know if that's simply a symptom of something greater, or the cause of all of our problems.

No one in their right mind goes into a museum and thinks "I'm going to smash everything."

God help us...
