A lot of good men gave their all on this day.

Many of them are still resting there, and many that survived were never the same.

Take a moment today to honor their valor and the sacrifices they made.

An amazing successful feat. After that, it only took the Allies about a year to defeat Hitler. Hitler had occupied France since 1940.

D Day was truly the longest day of the war.

Yep, my Dad landed on Omaha Beach.

Edited: Information unsuited for some.

Yes, they were a brave generation on that beach. One has to wonder if, such courage still exists today in the general population.

I really don't want to find out if that courage exists just because of what it took to get us to the Normandy invasions. Enormous sacrifice and suffering just to get us there.

When Desert Storm came along I didn't want to go. However, more than that, I didn't want someone to go in my place. If the situation called for it, people would step up IMHO.

I would hope so but, we have some (at least one) in our group that left for Canada when his number came up in the draft.

There's a difference in stepping up and stepping out.

That worked both ways back then. When GW1 broke out I ran south and tried to sign up in Buffalo. Got told I could re-enlist with Canada.
