Trump and the 9/11 attacks: A study in Cognitive Dissonance. Talk about a Sand Trap! (Page 1/2)

Trump in 2016

quote
“Who blew up the World Trade Center?” Trump told Fox News in a 2016 interview. “It wasn’t the Iraqis — it was Saudi. Take a look at Saudi Arabia. Open the documents.”

Trump, on Thursday

quote
Former President Donald Trump defended hosting the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series at his Bedminster, NJ course on Thursday, brushing off criticism from families of 9/11 victims by saying “nobody’s gotten to the bottom” of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

With families set to protest the event on Friday, ESPN pressed the 45th president for a response to the controversy.

“Well, nobody’s gotten to the bottom of 9/11, unfortunately, and they should have as to the maniacs that did that horrible thing to our city, to our country, to our world,” Trump said. “So nobody’s really been there.”

Just a little something to go along with some of the "Biden-centric" forum topics that have been created. Such as...Build the wall!

I see it as a big F-U to the establishment that trashed him throughout his entire presidency. I care very little.

Others will surely disagree. I also care very little about that.

I hadn't thought of it in that way.

Is this a case of the former President giving the "establishment" (as Raydar said) Its Just Deserts?

During his first presidential campaign, Donald Trump said that he had lost "hundreds of friends" in the 9-11 attacks. After a response on Twitter from MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell, Trump downsized that assertion to just "many" friends. That's the last that Trump has ever said in that vein, according to O'Donnell.

O'Donnell has asserted that there is no record of Trump ever having attended even one funeral of a 9-11 victim.

I guess one way to parse it is that among the death toll from 9-11 were friends of Trump, and that Trump did not attend any of their funerals. A conjunctive proposition ("and") that stands as True.

Just for the record. Part of my "Show and Tell" for today. Not more than that. Or not not more... "You make the call."

I would be proud to make the call. FaceSpace junkies claim to have hundreds of "friends".

I am never on FaceBook. Once I was spending time with a long time friend, in a different town. Had a good time and spent the night. The next day upon leaving I told him "I will give you a five star rating and like you on FaceSpace.

The 9-11 attacks were on September 11, 2001. According to Encyclopedia Britannica online, Myspace wasn't created until 2003, and Facebook, 2004.

That on-air segment that I posted (the YouTube video) has Lawrence O'Donnell recounting something else that Donald Trump said about 9-11, about Trump having actually gone to or near Ground Zero in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 and having involved himself in some way in what the rescue crews and and other workers were doing to safeguard and stabilize the site where the World Trade Center towers had been destroyed.

O'Donnell called that account "fictional".

I'm not saying I've checked into this independently, but I've got to go with O'Donnell on that one. In terms of what I'm inclined to believe.

I don't agree, I think that is your bias showing.
