That report from Fox News touches on a number of pet-related topics. Insect-based pet foods is only part of it.
You might not find it appealing to think about eating food or drinking beverages that include insects as an ingredient, but do you think your dog or cat would care? Would your dog or cat even be aware somehow that what it's being fed includes insects as a major ingredient?
If this is really some kind of "big deal" for you, I suggest you Google (DuckDuckGo... "whatever") "insect-based dog food", select one or more of the product websites, and browse through what they say about the ingredients, which include other ingredients in addition to insects.
Hint: You won't do it because this isn't about insect-based pet foods. It's about a meme-fueled, brain-dead kind of cultural tribalism that certain social media addicts and careless news media browsers have become addicted to.
"Give my dog Soldier Fly Larva-enhanced dog food, or Give Me Death!"

Actually, it's because it's just one more step on the globalist-WEF agenda in micro-managing our lives. Meme's got nothing to do with it.
Those nukes cant fly soon enough to suit me. THERE is their fruckin reset ![This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 10-23-2022).]

I don't have a cat or a dog. "Purina" was the only name I recognized when I Google'd for a list of companies that are marketing dog or cat food that incorporates insects or insect larva as a major ingredient.
These are companies in the private sector deciding that there's a market for these products and a way for them to profit from it.
It's not "Free Enterprise" if the only products that are allowed on the market are the products that you personally like or want to have.
How is it "micro-managing"..? Is anyone telling you that you have to buy these products?
This "belly-aching" about these new dog and cat foods is detracting from the credibility of your other belly-aching..![This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 10-24-2022).]

That is indeed good news.
If you didn't physically abuse a poor innocent animal by feeding it inappropriately, it is an absolute certainty that you would bore it to death.

A Gaia-worshipping, Greta Thunberg-crazed leftist ideologue, who may have later voted for Biden in the 2020 Presidential election, used YouTube in 2014 to post this obscene video of dogs being fed the larval stage of the Black Soldier Fly insect.
Warning: This video includes uncensored footage of dogs eating insect larvae.

quote | Entomophagy is the practice of eating insects. An alternative term is insectivory. Terms for organisms that practice entomophagy are "entomophage" and "insectivore". |
|
Wikipedia.
quote | Entomophagy is widespread among nonhuman primates and is common among many human communities. However, the extent and patterns of entomophagy vary substantially both in humans and nonhuman primates. Here we synthesize the literature to examine why humans and other primates eat insects and what accounts for the variation in the extent to which they do so.
Variation in the availability of insects is clearly important, but less understood is the role of nutrients in entomophagy. We apply a multidimensional analytical approach, the right-angled mixture triangle, to published data on the macronutrient compositions of insects to address this. Results showed that insects eaten by humans spanned a wide range of protein-to-fat ratios but were generally nutrient dense, whereas insects with high protein-to-fat ratios were eaten by nonhuman primates.
Although suggestive, our survey exposes a need for additional, standardized, data. |
