williegoat Glendale, AZ ' Are you related to MEM? '
^^ Well, I'm not sure if we're related, it would have to had been far in the past, the Neanderthal Age, when we got our signature knuckle dragging forms. We are however, both far from the West Coast, though it is said that when it happens, the ground will shake here too. Then we'll just roll over in our beds, thinking, meh, that's just thunder, cut a pleasant Canadian beer fart. Unless, the M9.6 Cascadia Megaquake triggers the Niagara Escarpment into moving, all the way down to the New Madrid Fault Line. Double whammy ! ' Shake, Rattle n Roll ' Uh... That was a good one. I wish I could say the same for the other memes and cartoons like that that have become so commonplace on this forum, but most of them are "fails".

Your judgement on what constitutes a fail is questionable at best.

California's Great Flood of 1862 put entire cities underwater and formed an inland sea across the middle of California.
It could happen again in the foreseeable future, and the prospect is being encapsulated as a MegaFlood, an Atmospheric River—or more figuratively, an "Ark Storm".
It could also be colloquialized as a "Pineapple Express on Steroids".[This message has been edited by rinselberg (edited 11-09-2022).]

Mega Flood ! Lucy Jones Book : The Big Ones : How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us (and What We Can Do About Them)
LA Times newsblip
They should make a movie about the flood. Get to know all those poor people that don't make it out, and their reactions as they see the approaching wall of muddy water with cars, buses, and trucks in it coming for them. Doomed ! A horror movie made in California, for Californians, by Californians. A blockbuster fear flick, a movie with famous Hollywood icons. Brad Pitt as the hero Meteorologist trying to warn the uncaring Politicians, Nuisum as himself, constantly grooming and coifing himself in portable mirrors with an entourage of stylists, it's a Hollywood thing. J-Lo as the hot reporter from the LA Times, warning the people that they are in a financial sinkhole and stand to lose everything. Cameo roles for the unfortunate schmucks that don't survive, Oscars for the best croak, the guy that drives off the bridge that was out, plunging into the roaring torrents below, ' Arrgggh ! ' Liberally sugar coated with woke schmaltz, the cool cat in his track pants cooking for some reason, doesn't get out. It would be as big as ' The Poseidon Adventure ' I nominate the production by the ' Predator 2 ' outfit, a masterpiece, Arnold in a bit role as a retired firefighter, saving the damsels in distress. Katniss as a Hollywood Star that loses her ranch and the ponies, the puppies, the cats, and emus, alpacas, so sad. Giant Wave, Tsunami, M9 MegaQuake, The Earth Moves. A return to adventure and doom !
. Wikipedia - Great Flood of 1862 References, all you need to know, and then some more. Put on a happy face, wait for the end, resigned to the failure of self preservation by a collective of really smart people. ' If it happens, such is fate. Maybe not in the foreseeable future, like the M9. '
