Well,
I'm not sure if we're related, it would have to had been far in the past, the Neanderthal Age, when we got our signature knuckle dragging forms.
We are however, both far from the West Coast, though it is said that when it happens, the ground will shake here too.
Then we'll just roll over in our beds, thinking, meh, that's just thunder, cut a pleasant Canadian beer fart.
Unless,
the M9.6 Cascadia Megaquake triggers the Niagara Escarpment into moving, all the way down to the New Madrid Fault Line.

California's Great Flood of 1862 put entire cities underwater and formed an inland sea across the middle of California.
It could happen again in the foreseeable future, and the prospect is being encapsulated as a MegaFlood, an Atmospheric River—or more figuratively, an "Ark Storm".
