OK, I just had to beat rinselberg to the punch on this thread title.
AG Garland appoints special counsel to investigate Biden classified documents

Now, this happened so fast that you have to know it was all planned out beforehand.
Does anyone think that this whole thing could be a smokescreen to obscure the impending news about Hunter? It could be a way to allow Ol'Joe to step down without any further embarrassment.

AG Garland had little choice IMHO. Had he not assigned a special prosecutor there would have been political hell to pay.

Robert Kyoung Hur was sworn in as the U.S. District Attorney for Maryland on April 9, 2018. Before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Hur worked for the Honolulu Hawaii Department of Justice, where he led a team of prosecutors that worked closely with the famed "Hawaii Five-O" on several high profile criminal investigations.

And, just for the record, who is this Special Counsel?
The Special Counsel is Robert Hur. And who is Robert Hur you might ask?
Robert Hur was a partner with Chris Wray at the powerhouse law firm King & Spalding in 2015.
Hur later became a top lieutenant to Rod Rosenstein, a serial liar who pushed the Trump-Russia lie for several years, the U.S. deputy attorney general.
An unbiased person for this job I am not so sure.
