Don’t you think… (Page 1/2)

If you are going to run for the U.S.Senate, don’t you think you should know something about our system of government?

Dem Rep. Porter: ‘Congress Absolutely Can and Should Police the Supreme Court’

quote
Porter said, “Congress absolutely can and should police the Supreme Court. Residual power for our government is in Congress, not in the executive branch, not with the president, not with the Supreme Court.

She got her JD at Harvard. Is this what she learned?

Uh...is using “she” being overly presumptive on my part?

courts run on laws made by a legislature

our courts have made some very bad laws
when allowed to do so

immunity/impunity for police is one bad example

allowing them to lie cheat and steal with out consequence
and leaving their victim without legal recourse far too often

anyway the elected should always control the political appointed

Courts and legislatures are two of the three equal branches of the U.S. government. The Constitution defines and limits all three branches.

Courts do not make laws.

This is a vague and generalized statement which does not deserve comment.

We can discuss the Bidens later.

The wisdom of our government is that it has checks and balances against the kind of authoritarian control that you so often demand.

The point is that the new American Left does not understand the Constitution, our laws or our system of government.

I think rayb has just substantiated my assertion.

Felony misinformation, indicted, tried by a jury, imprisoned , fined.
Seems fair as can be.
Taxpayers want truth from the hired help, and nothing but he truth.
Pulled over by the local cops, on video lying about the separation of powers, dragged out kicking and screaming, ' Stop Resisting ! '
Cuffed, after being tased and subdued on the median of the interstate, in the back of the cruiser video, ' We so too have the power ! '
Losing her wig !
Change that they won't like.

I think "williegoat" is not seeing the forest for the trees.

There's a long history of Congress passing legislation to change the number of Supreme Court justices. It's been done more than once.

If Congress can do that, I see no cogent reasoning on Constitutional grounds that forbids Congress from defining exacting ethical standards for the Supreme Court justices for their disclosures and avoiding conflicts of interest: ethical standards that carry the force of law.

Aside from her typical Leftist lack of basic American civics knowledge, this woman is a train wreck in almost every aspect of her life.

"Everywhere she goes, Representative Katie Porter leaves chaos in her wake. From her home to her office to her local police department, the California congresswoman leaves no one unscarred.

The protégé of Senator Elizabeth Warren, who went as far as to name one of her children “Elizabeth” after the senator, is currently rolling out a new book, titled I Swear: Politics is Messier Than My Minivan,..."

Absolutely !
There is stupidity all the way down in the Damnocratic party. Even in Texas.

We have a State Senator who is advancing a Bill which will require private land owners to install water meters on private water wells.

Even though the Texas Constitution gives land owners the right to unfettered use to all water under their property. Just like oil and gas.

Although the analogy is appropriate, your application is flawed.

I am a Right Wing Conservative and a “Big Picture” guy. I support our system of government as conceived by our founding fathers and described in the U.S. Constitution.

Our republic and the Constitution are the “forest”, the foundation, the “big picture”. Proper forest management dictates that some trees need to be culled in order to prevent catastrophic wildfires. This California Leftist is a weed.
