Nice thing about airplanes (and machines in general). They dont judge based on anything but skills. You either got them or you are a hole in the ground.[This message has been edited by MidEngineManiac (edited 06-29-2023).]

If you remember correctly, the Declaration of Independence states, "All men are created equal." Not... "Some men are created more equal than others."
The constitution essentially was based on this. The racist Democrats obviously didn't want this, but the language still stood until the Supreme Court and the Republicans could pass legislation to affirm it.
Telling whites and Asians that they need to go to the back of the line because we need to let everyone else first, is what's racist. PERIOD
You cannot give preferential treatment to people based on race... period.

If you take in in context and what they were revolting against (The crown and aristocrocy). Bloodlines do not make you created a superior ruling class.
Dont think they ever intended it to go any further than that. Most certainly not the way the left understands "equality"

and when there are as many legicy's for all races as whites ''3 : a candidate for membership in an organization (such as a school or fraternal order) who is given special status because of a familial relationship to a member Legacies, or children of alumni, are three times more likely to be accepted to Harvard than other high school graduates with the same (sometimes better) scores ''
only then will there be true equality
the Gop favors not the 1% but the 0.1% even more as they pay for the BS like the con packed court by CHEATING LYING AND STEALING WHO THEN CHEAT LIE AND STEAL [for free vacations and houses for mom ]
but will tell you how moral they are while cheating lying and stealing

Progress is achieved by "progressives". That is the opposite of the "conservatives" who do not want anything to change.
The conservatives on the right opposed women's right to vote. The conservatives on the right opposed Social Security. The conservatives on the right opposed The Civil Rights Act. The conservatives on the right opposed interracial marriage. The conservatives on the right opposed stem cell research. The conservatives on the right opposed equal protection under the law for the homosexuals.
All the progress being made in the modern world is being achieved by progressives who oppose the conservatives on the right.

Obviously, this is completely wrong, and you know that...
Women were granted the right to vote by the 19th amendment, that was passed by a Republican house and senate (66th Congress), which was majority Republican in both houses.
Social Security... yeah, that's a Socialist-style welfare program, so yes, democrats.
Civil Rights Act, again... passed by a Republican majority house and senate, despite overwhelming mass-opposition from Democrats. Some say that Kennedy died for this.
Interracial marriage? Again, it was never illegal except in Democrat states. It was always allowed in Republican states.
Equal protection under the law for homosexuals... easy to claim victory on this one, but all of the anti-gay legislation of the past was from Democrats, particularly in 2008. More anti-gay legislation passed in Democrat states than at any point in history, including Proposition 8. It was the Conservative Supreme Court that ruled that Clinton's DOMA was unconstitutional, and that the Federal government had no right to dictate who could or could not marry.[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 06-29-2023).]

The Defense of Marriage Act had Republican approval, but there was some language in it that many shied away from. Just a few years ago, I had a high-level position in Federal government, and my name is actually listed on the letter to congress of "Prominent Republicans" that supported the respect for marriage act. You're welcome. |

I did not say anything about "Republicans" or "Democrats". But just a few notes.
The 19th Amendment was ratified by 36 states, not congress. And no conservative southern states were among the 36.
Social Security is the best thing that ever happened to this country. The old and disabled shoiuld not starve to death in the richest country on Earth.
Civil Rights Act. Opposed by all Southern conservatives.
Vote on Respect for Marraige Act.
House Dems.......... 219-0 in favor. House Rep........169-39 against. Senate Dems............50-0 in favor. Senate Rep.........37-12 against
