Hillary Clinton Blames 'MAGA Republicans' for Making It HOT Outside (Page 1/1)

Hot enough for you?

Thank a MAGA Republican.

Or better yet, vote them out of office.

Perhaps the most curious part of that statement from Hillary Clinton is the "MAGA" part of it.

There was not a single Republican vote in the House or the Senate for the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law on August 16, 2022. So she might have just said "Republican" instead of "MAGA Republican."

I guess it could be a more specific reference to efforts that some Republicans are currently involved in, to (in effect) "claw back" some of the federal budgetary outlays that were legislated by the Inflation Reduction Act... could be, but probably not. I think she's just not making any distinction in this remark between "MAGA" and "Republican."

There was only 1 House Democrat that voted against the bill. All 50 Democratic Senators voted for the bill. It passed the Senate with the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Inflation Reduction Act was (and continues to be) touted by Democrats as the most significant "climate legislation" that's ever been enacted into law.

So that's the political logic of this remark from Hillary Clinton.

You might not like it or agree with it, but the remark does have a definite logic from a Democratic Party perspective.

Never believe a leftist.

Hillary is no authority on climate science.

Good to know, because Hillary really had me "going" on this... the way she said "Hot enough for you?" She said it with such seeming authority. It led me to assume that she had a doctorate in Earth Sciences from Columbia University, or had done post graduate research at Woods Hole, or something like that. I never would have realized...

Which begs the question "Who is an authority on climate science?"

(I was just engaging in some mild sarcasm whenI posted my previous remark in this thread.)

Michael Mann is a well known climate researcher who's long been affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania.

This article is from July 11, almost three weeks ago.

Consider the picture that emerges as various pieces of a jigsaw puzzle (so to speak) are logically connected:
  • The variability of weather
  • The effect of climate on weather
  • The recurring and predictable Pacific Ocean temperature cycle known as "El Niño"
  • A Jet Stream that is getting "stuck" because of rapid warming of the Arctic
  • The role of atmospheric CO2 from fossil fuels and other human-attributable greenhouse gas emissions

"A ‘perfect storm’ is unfolding this summer and it’s ‘supercharging’ the weather, scientist says"
Angela Fritz for CNN; July 11, 2023.
