That sucks... I hate to see that. I have to assume that either the pressure of being the wife of the Prime Minister got to her, and she no longer wanted to be in the spotlight... or... he cheated on her, and this was the most amicable way they could separate without destroying his career. I hate to say it, but statistically, it's almost always the second one. Even in most cases of the second one, they stay together for the benefit of the "party."
