"White House told U.S. ambassador to Japan to stop taunting China on social media" Carol E. Lee, Courtney Kube and Peter Nicholas for NBC News; September 20, 2023. https://www.nbcnews.com/pol...mbassador-rcna105982
The famously sharp-tongued and not infrequently potty-mouthed Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's first Chief of Staff, and then mayor of Chicago, raised alarm bells at the National Security Council for using social media to lampoon China's president Xi Jinping for "disappearing" the Chinese foreign minister and, more recently, the Chinese defense minister.
The top U.S. diplomat in Tokyo, Rahm Emanuel, went on "X" (Twitter) to troll China's president Xi Jinping:
quote | "President Xi’s cabinet lineup is now resembling Agatha Christie’s novel 'And Then There Were None'," the ambassador wrote [September 7] on X—the social media platform formerly known as Twitter—referring to the disappearance of China’s foreign minister earlier this year and more recently its defense minister.
“Who’s going to win this unemployment race? China’s youth—or Xi’s cabinet?” |
