Do you think this is fair?
A person works to earn income and has to pay tax on it.
A person who does not work and whose income is just a trust fund from his parents does not have to pay taxes on his income.
A person who gets a million dollars of income when his parents die does not have to pay tax on his income.
Why should people who work for their income have to pay taxes on it when some people who do not work for their income not have to pay taxes on it?

The Fair Tax plan addresses that.
Pay taxes when money is spent.
There is more to the plan, read up on it.

So called "fair tax plan" is the opposite of fair.
Low income earners who have to spend everything they make to live are taxed on 100% of income.
Large income earners who have extra money to invest get to use that money tax free (to make even more money).
Just more proof of how the wealthy have brainwashed the middle class to support a tax plan that cuts their own throats.
But anyone who was wealthy enough to buy a house without a mortgage would be thrilled with this "fair" tax plan.

Fat chance. They don't want to read up on it. They might learn something different from what they (think they) know.
The Fair Tax is a retail sales tax with (last time I heard) exemptions for food and other necessities, so that the poor folks are not impacted. I forget exactly how it works, but it's there. But the opponents of "tax them till they bleed" don't want to hear that.
If you invest your money, you're not buying retail. And that money can be passed down to future generations. It's still not retail. But it's gotta be spent at some point. BAM! Retail sales tax kicks in. The more you spend, the more tax you pay. Period.
What a lot of people don't want to acknowledge is that all the "funny money" that the drug dealers have stashed in their gun safes and mattresses, that nobody knows about, will suddenly become taxable, as soon as it is spent. It's going to even the field. The price of an Escalade or a Benz is going to go up ~15%, no matter where the money came from. Trust funds or "coke impregnated" rolls of 20s. Same for all those offshore accounts that other people would prefer to remain hidden. It can sit there forever, but as soon as you buy something... BAM!

It's actually even better than that for low income citizens:
"The prebate makes the FairTax progressive. To ensure no American pays tax on necessities, the FairTax Plan provides a prepaid, monthly rebate (prebate) for every registered household to cover the consumption tax spent on necessities up to the federal poverty level.
This, along with several other features, is how the FairTax completely untaxes the poor, lowers the tax burden on most, while making the overall rate progressive. However, the FairTax is progressive based on lifestyle/spending choices, rather than simply punishing those taxpayers who are successful. "
As you aptly observed though, this doesn't appeal to the Leftists / Marxists because they are brainwashed by class resentment and envy.
