Steve Scalise? ... the next speaker? (Page 1/5)

Hopefully he can get the votes, but I'm actually really interested in this. Scalise is a budget-minded kind of guy, and also mostly aligns with Trump, but not aggressively cable-news style like Jordan.

Thoughts?

Honestly, the only thing I know about him is he was shot by a maniacal Leftist. (is that redundant?)

The forum already has two gibbering idiots who constantly obsess over the word "leftist." One of them can't differentiate between a leftist and his own keister. (And I don't mean keister as in "suitcase.") The other, a compulsive liar.

Is that the kind of company you want to keep?

Scalise is a decent choice but unless someone works some magic it's going to be difficult to overcome a lot of people that still have butthurt over McCarthy's ouster and get to 217 on a floor vote.

Ironically, this has the potential to also go through a few rounds of votes just like McCarthy did.

I really don't know much about Steve Scalise. Had he not been shot by a leftoid, I would know nothing. I have come to realize he is a moderate republican and that is good. Jordon I think gets more people aware of the conservative agenda.

Yes, right. Gibbering idiots is a much more pleasant term.

My description of Hodgkinson as a maniacal leftist is accurate. Rinselberg's objection (his obsession) with the word "leftist" is just an attempt to derail the discussion.

Refer to page #7 of this document: https://www.secretservice.g...20-06/Hodgkinson.pdf

Yes, he is (or certainly was) maniacal and a leftist, so a maniacal leftist.

It was that jibe (gibe) that you tacked on, where you said (in effect) that it is redundant to describe a maniacal leftist as a maniacal leftist, instead of just saying a "leftist," because all leftists are maniacal. Or maybe you were saying that all maniacs are leftists.

Either way, I disagree.

I'm not going to "green-light that gibe"—at least, not this time.

Well, and there you have it...

"The race for House Speaker took a harrowing turn in the late morning hours Thursday, with sources telling Newsmax that Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) is expected to drop out of the race after he concluded he would be unable to secure the necessary 217 votes."
