Some things that have been running across my feeds lately... and it caused me to start to look up a few things. It seems that the Democrats are in somewhat of a bind right now. You have two sides that are diametrically opposed, and generally go across two lines of thought:
Support for Israel: The Jewish population has to a large degree, been Democrat for a long time. This has far more to do, specifically, with the majority of Jewish immigrants having moved to New York, and taking various trades-based jobs that were historically supported by Democrat politicians / unions (think WW2 through Bill Clinton era type Democrat). Now, Jewish support for Democrats has been declining within the past 7-8 years for a variety of factors. Some feel that the Democrat party has kind of abandoned them, while Republicans have made inroads with significant support to Jewish-specific interests. There's now a 61/39% split among people who identify as Jewish... that is 61% Democrat, and 39% Republican.
Support for Palestine: Incidentally, the majority of support for Palestine seems to be almost entirely on the left, with very few independents and almost NO Republicans supporting a Palestinian state (or any support for Hamas at all). What I found is that almost without fail, those who support Palestine seem to also be the same individuals that support groups such as BLM and other radical-left groups. They are also more likely to believe in and support Communism, and to a greater extent, Socialism. The underlying theme seems to have less to do with what the actual cause is, but that it seems to be a white / black issue... believing that the Palestinians are the repressed "colored" people, and the Jews are the oppressive "white" people. Obviously, that's silly... but this is how this seems to be viewed.
Why this is interesting is because nearly 81% of Democrats strongly support Israel. And the "fight" seems to be entirely on the left right now. The RADICAL side of LGBT groups support Palestine (and are generally antisemitic), but the pro-Palestinian groups are becoming somewhat aligned with Conservatives over things like pro-Trans books in public schools, which most Muslims find extremely abhorrent. Likewise, these pro-Palestinian groups are vehemently anti-Jewish... and that's becoming apparent to many, many people. Furthermore, there's a large wedge being driven between Jews in predominantly Democrat-cities as people are buying up residential areas that were historically lower income areas for minorities... so there's become an increasingly greater separation of trust between minorities and say Jewish populations that reside in the city. A lot of traditionally liberal-minded Jewish Democrats and rabbis are started to question whether or not they still are "Democrats."
Joe Biden in particular is stuck in a difficult position because the radical left (which motivates the leftist grass-roots youth vote) is really against Joe's support to Israel. Conversely, the extremely antisemitic behavior that we see on social media, the news, and protests in large cities is immediately turning Jewish people more and more to the right.
As it stands, the Republicans are largely uninvolved. They don't have the Senate, Joe Biden is president, and people are increasingly seeing the world descend into chaos... and whether or not it's as a result of Joe Biden (or despite it)... you're looking at a lot of unhappy people on the left. Jewish people who are becoming Republican at an increasingly alarming rate, moderate Democrats who are feeling distance with their party, and the radical left who feels betrayed by Joe Biden who is (correctly) placating the more traditional side of the Democrat party in support of Israel.
I don't laugh at it... but I'm seeing a proverbial storm so to speak. This election is going to be interesting...

Yeah, that's a well written article. I'd not ever read that book by Thomas Sowell... but I may pick it up... I still have to get through all of these...
... which are far less "aggressive" if you will, since they're fantasy AD&D novels... haha.
But what I think is going to happen is either a shift of policy on the side of the Democrats (unlikely), an isolation of the radical left (also unlikely), or a an uptick of registration changes from Dem to Rep... or better for everyone... the left feels disgruntled and they stay home on election day. This is a real thing, and some of my Dem friends have done it when they feel that their lack of vote protest would have a greater impact, and they couldn't stomach voting for the Republican (just because they've been taught that Republicans are evil, even though they're friends with me and know I'm not evil, but all the rest of us must be... haha).[This message has been edited by 82-T/A [At Work] (edited 10-23-2023).]
